Every day, decisions are made at the local, state and national level that affect the health of our lands, the water we drink and the air we breathe. The Nature Conservancy works with a diverse group of partners and coalitions to support public policies that protect our lands and waters so the next generations of Americans can build secure and rewarding lives.

Natural Resource Spending Just 1% of Federal Budget

In 2010, all federal spending on land, water, ocean, and wildlife programs represented just a little over one percent of all government spending. These programs did not cause the budget deficit and cutting them cannot fix the deficit.
